I think there is a bit more risk on EDM's behalf, but the trade is much more even than people are acting. Give me the guy going into his prime over the guy exiting it all damn day

strome has 1 yr left at 2.5 mil what if he explodes and gets 60-70 pts this yr. how are the oil going to fit McD drai and strome in under the cap? i really hope it works out for strome. plenty of upside there for him. he was a good player for the isls. i'll be rooting for him.

Sure did but at some point moving on from players is as important as getting a huge return. (AKA Kessel)

Sorry 3 years.

Still a dumb statement. Eberle is in his prime for a number of years still. Strome has never come close to Eberle upside.

I find it hard to believe that eberle couldn't be flipped into a 4th righty defencemen. Even the the islanders could have given up poluck, obvious why they didn't, strome sucks and who doesn't like taking candy from a baby. The jets are paying way to much for Meyers on there third pair and have to trade in order to get a established scoring to move to the peg. The caps have Bowey sitting in the wings who is projected to be top 4. I would go so far as to say johns and a pick from Dallas is a better return then strome. Anything to avoid resigning russel.

Not just fleeced. DESTROYED. A trade so bad it is almost impossible to quantify without seeming over the top. Good thing that's never been a problem for me.

Yeah and 3 prime years isn't a big deal. [rolls eyes] We will see, I guess

Grampa iggy likes to make his own math and time up to make his "opinions" appear more like facts when he is busy contradicting himself on HB.

And just to add: let's say Strome breaks out and is actually a good pick up. Great, but now you can't afford him.

It's hilarious that Edm writers/fans can think this is a decent trade. The only thing that they can back that up with is how great Strome COULD be on McDavids line. This is a joke. That doesn't make the trade any better. Hell, Ek could produce on McDavids wing....Right Ek?

Or maybe he isn't overpaid to the tune that Eberle is. Facts are facts, James. The facts are that P.C. made a move you didn't like last year, signed a dman that you think is the worst in the league because of advanced stats with no actual knowledge of how the game is played, and viola the Oilers improve 33 points from the previous season and make it to second round of the playoffs.

Fastforward another year. PC makes another move you hate. Which means I can't wait to see how much better the team is this year, simply because you dislike the moves. Remind everyone again what you said about how the Oilers were going to do in the 15-16 season, and where they ended up?

Everyone but James Tanner knows what they are talking about...I guess James you would rather have Edmonton to do the same they did with Sam Gagner...over-rated him and got nothing in the end...

When you have an up and coming formidable team like EDM many Western Conference GM's will not trade with you and the UFA market makes your team attractive to many talented, so trades do come down to economics. A good UFA signing takes the place of a good developed pick or trade. The Hall trade may have ben lopsided but there was no way he would fit their cap. Likewise Isles fans want Duchene but if the price in players is high to get him and they can't sign him in two years makes it questionable. Strome may not have the numbers but his talent may be a good fit for the EDM forwards. Chiarelli may he right because journalists analyze these trades with blinders.

Tanner spewing meaningless garbage like usual.

Did you not watch Larsson last year? That trade has already proven to have benefited the Oilers.

Why do you have to be such a tool?

This move opens up a spot for Pulallallajarvaiaiia in the top-6 which is nice. Edmonton will be an interesting team with that group of forwards.

Made me crack up. I needed that
